A small site for Jann's EZ Pet Care
Jann's EZ Pet Care was a website we built pro bono for a friend who was considering starting a dog-care service. The service never began operating, so the site has been retired.
The brief
The brief was a single small site. A neighbor should be able to understand what the service was and decide whether it sounded like a fit, and contact had to be obvious once they were ready.
Reviewing the whole page first
We first put the whole page together for review, with the service, the questions a pet owner is likely to have, the practical boundaries, and the inquiry path. Facts that still needed Jann's answer stayed visible as open decisions, and finished color and photography came later.
After that we built the working site and finished mobile reading, contact, privacy, and launch. We now review small sites in this order.
A static site
The content was not going to change often. We built a static site to keep pages quick and dependable, with fewer moving parts to look after. We handled hosting and updates, so Jann would have had no separate admin system to learn.
The brief did not call for accounts, scheduling, payments, or a customer database, so we left them out, along with their privacy and operating costs.
Accessibility
We handled keyboard order, responsive reading order, visible focus, reduced motion, reflow, and the inquiry flow while the page was still taking shape, before the final design, so Jann could review them as decisions.
Where it landed
The site was built and published, then retired after Jann decided not to pursue the service. We built it free, for a friend. This case study shows the completed project and a recording of its inquiry flow.
The service never began operating and no clients were served, so there are no bookings, traffic, or search results to report. We came away with the review order above and a pattern for small static sites.
