About the studio.
Plant Powered Pixels is a small family studio in Los Angeles, on the border of West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Lincoln develops applications at UCLA and built the organizing tech for the union he organizes with. Billie brings design and operations. Together we build websites, apps, and dashboards. The longer story of Lincoln's university and organizing work lives at lbohn.info.
Our pro bono program is one way we are making room for useful work with limited resources. We donate the design and build, ask participating organizations to cover modest hosting costs, and share the finished projects as case studies.

Every build starts as a structure you can click through, with accessibility in place from the first page.

Content, behavior, and the dynamic features are added to that structure.

Background
Work at UCLA
Lincoln is a staff research associate at UCLA, building web applications for SUPER (opens in a new tab) (Substance Use Prevention Evidence-Based Resource). He also provides technical assistance to the California Services to Science Academy (CSSA). This government and university work is held to WCAG and Section 508.
WeHo Temps United
We organize with WeHo Temps United. Lincoln built the union's public site and its private organizing dashboard: intake forms, member tracking, and the views organizers check. Billie and Lincoln keep running both day to day, and the tools change as the campaign needs more from them. See it running at wehotempsunited.org (opens in a new tab).
WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508
We target WCAG 2.1 AA from the first commit and include Section 508 where the work requires it. That habit comes from government and university work, where accessibility is part of the acceptance criteria.
Backends and handoff
When a project needs a backend, we set it up so the people using it can keep it current, and we document the handoff.
